Bridgeport Workers’ Compensation Lawyer

Accidents and injuries can happen at any time, including the workplace. A workplace injury may be minor or more severe. Some are even life-changing or permanent.

No matter how you were injured, you need to ensure you get the compensation you deserve for your injuries and other damages. That’s where workers’ compensation benefits come in. Under Connecticut law, workers’ compensation benefits pay for medical treatment and lost wages for employees who have been injured, disabled, or killed in the workplace while performing their jobs. All reasonable or necessary treatment is covered, including doctor visits, hospital stays, surgery, physical therapy, and prescriptions.

If you have been injured at work, you need to protect your legal rights. See how a Bridgeport workers’ compensation lawyer from Morizio Law Firm, P.C. can assist you and get you the compensation you deserve.

What Do Workers’ Compensation Benefits Cover?

In Connecticut, you can recover workers’ compensation benefits for temporary or permanent disability. They are classified as:

  • Temporary Partial Disability (TPD). TPD means you are disabled to some degree but can work on restricted duty at your current job or at a different job. TPD benefits are 75% of the difference between your earnings in your new position and your former average weekly wage (AWW).
  • Temporary Total Disability (TTD). TTD benefits are available for up to 52 weeks or until the worker reaches maximum medical improvement. These benefits equal 75% of the worker’s average weekly wage.
  • Permanent Partial Disability (PPD). PPD benefits vary in amount and duration according to a schedule established by law, which lists the amount paid per body part. The doctor assigns a disability rating to the affected body part at issue, then multiplies that by the maximum number of applicable weeks to determine how long the benefits will last.
  • Permanent Total Disability (PTD). PTD benefits are 75% of average weekly wage, and are available for as long as the disability lasts. A person who is eligible for PTD benefits has an injury so severe that they cannot work at all. Some examples include loss of use of the eyes, arms, legs, hands, or feet.
